Vocab Affects Entire Reading Sections

Vocabulary affects not only the fill-in-the-blank questions, but also almost every single question in the reading passages. So these lessons are designed to help you with both sections. They are already grouped for you in short, easy-to-remember categories. (Remember you don't have to be Merriam Webster on the , you just have to have a general definition for the words that you will see on the test.)

 

   1) Trust the category definitions. Yes, each word does have a more precise meaning. But you don't need it to do well on the ..

   2) Use the memorization method that works best for you, whether it be writing out sentences, flashcards, or mnemonics.

   3) Make sure you do the practice questions because, the more you see the words, the better you'll memorize them.

   4) Lessons 1 - 4 focus on words found in main idea questions (Reading Lesson 2) and primary purpose questions (Reading Lesson 4).

   5) Lessons 5 -13 focus on vocabulary found in author's attitude questions (Reading Lesson 3) and are favorites of the fill-in-the-blanks.

   6) Lessons 14- 31 focus on vocabulary that has been heavily tested on previous tests.
